This hiking route takes you through the stunning area of Canal del Peñotillo in Navacerrada. The trail is an out-and-back type, with a total distance of 5.796 kilometers and an elevation gain of 537 meters, making it a difficult hike that will challenge all levels of hikers.

As you begin your journey, you will pass by the picturesque Embalse del Pueblo de Navacerrada, a beautiful water reservoir located just 0.17 kilometers from the start of the trail. This is a perfect spot to take in the surrounding natural beauty and perhaps have a quick break before continuing on.

As you venture further along the trail, at approximately 2.9 kilometers from the start, you will encounter three peaks - each offering a unique vantage point of the surrounding landscape. These peaks are great for those looking to elevate their hiking experience and take in the panoramic views.

Around 1.71 kilometers into the hike, you will come across Cueva-vivac, a shelter that provides a cozy place to rest and refuel before heading back. Additionally, you will find Fuente de La Barranca and Fuente de la Casa de Guías along the way, two refreshing springs where you can replenish your water supply.

For those looking to learn more about the area, there are information points scattered along the trail, providing insights into the local flora, fauna, and geology. These points are great for taking a breather and expanding your knowledge of the surroundings.

As you make your way back, you will pass by Vivac del Peñotillo, another shelter that offers a comfortable resting spot. Finally, at the end of the trail, you will complete your hike at Canal del Peñotillo, feeling accomplished and fulfilled from the challenging yet rewarding journey.
