This extremely difficult 14.5-kilometer out-and-back hiking route will take you to the stunning Monte Muretto area. The trail starts at the parking area, so make sure to bring plenty of water and snacks before beginning your adventure.
As you make your way along the trail, you will pass by several points of interest. About 1 kilometer into the hike, you will come across the Foresteria della Certosa alpine hut, where you can take a break and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Further along, at the 6.2-kilometer mark, you will find Lago Rosso, a picturesque lake that is perfect for a rest stop.
For those looking for more accommodations, Rifugio Val Gravio is located 3.12 kilometers from the start of the trail. Additionally, there are drinking water sources at the 1-kilometer mark, so you can refill your water bottle if needed.
As you continue on, be prepared for some challenging terrain and steep inclines, especially as you make your way to Colle del Vento saddle, which is around 6.8 kilometers into the hike. The elevation gain of 1073 meters will provide a good workout, so make sure to pace yourself accordingly.
At the 7.24-kilometer mark, you will reach the peak of Monte Muretto, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding area. On your way back, don't forget to stop by the viewpoint at the 6.79-kilometer mark to soak in the scenery one last time.
