This extremely difficult out-and-back hike to Rothorn offers stunning views and a challenging terrain for experienced hikers. The 12.6-kilometer route with 994 meters of elevation gain will take approximately 5 hours and 24 minutes to complete.
Starting at the parking area, hikers will begin their journey towards Rothorn. Along the way, you will pass by the Tignousa restaurant, where you can stop for a quick meal or snack just 1.23 kilometers into the hike. Further along the trail at 3.66 kilometers, you will come across a water source for refilling your bottles.
At the 4.39-kilometer mark, you will find the Lac de la Bella Tola, a beautiful lake where you can take a moment to rest and enjoy the scenery. Nearby, there are information points such as the Tignousa viewpoint at 1.23 kilometers and the Cabane Bella-Tola alpine hut at 1.69 kilometers from the trail.
