This hiking route takes you to the beautiful area of Mont Lachat de Châtillon, offering stunning views and a challenging trek. The trail is an out-and-back route, covering a distance of 12.473 kilometers with an elevation gain of 757 meters, making it extremely difficult.
As you start your hike, you will come across a parking area, where you can leave your vehicle before hitting the trail. About 1.56 kilometers into the hike, you will find "La Colombière des Neiges," a restaurant where you can grab a bite to eat.
Continuing on, at around 2.09 kilometers, you will pass by another restaurant called "Le névé," offering a resting spot for hikers. Further along the trail, at 2.19 kilometers, you will encounter the "Bachal de la côte" fountain, providing a refreshing break.
As you reach the 3.96-kilometer mark, you will spot a historic wayside shrine, adding a cultural touch to your journey. At the 3.98-kilometer point, there is an information point and the "Col de Châtillon," a peak worth exploring.
The highlight of the hike is Mont Lachat de Châtillon, located approximately 6.24 kilometers from the start. This peak offers panoramic views and an exhilarating experience. Nearby, you will find the "Décollage FFVL du Mont-Lachat," providing an opportunity for free flying.
After enjoying the summit, you can retrace your steps back to the starting point. Remember to bring plenty of water, wear appropriate hiking gear, and check the weather forecast before setting out on this challenging adventure.
