This extremely difficult hiking route will take you to the majestic Hohe Penhab peak. The 13.033-kilometer trail has an elevation gain of 979.0 meters and is expected to take around 5 hours and 27 minutes to complete.
Starting at the parking area near 12er Express, you will begin your journey towards the Hohe Penhab peak. Along the way, you will pass by several points of interest. About 2.76 kilometers from the start, you will come across the cozy Winkler Alm restaurant, where you can take a break and enjoy some delicious food.
Further along the trail at approximately 3.35 kilometers from the start, you will find a water source for refilling your supplies. As you continue your ascent, you will reach the Hintermaisalm restaurant at around 1.78 kilometers from the start, offering another opportunity to rest and recharge.
At the midway point of the hike, approximately 6.52 kilometers from the start, you will reach the peak of Hohe Penhab, boasting breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Take your time to soak in the beauty of the area before starting your descent.
On the way back, make sure to stop by the historic Hl. Thomas-Kapelle wayside shrine located about 0.65 kilometers from the start. Additionally, you can visit the Bigfoot bar around 2.84 kilometers from the start for a refreshing drink.
