Welcome to the Saalbachkogel hiking route! This extremely difficult 13.6-kilometer circular trail offers stunning views and a challenging trek through the beautiful landscape.
Starting at the 12er Express parking lot, you'll begin your journey with a steady ascent towards the Seetörl saddle. Along the way, you'll pass by the Speicherteich Gerstreit, a peaceful water reservoir located about 1 kilometer from the starting point. As you continue, the trail takes you past the Bergstadl restaurant and alpine hut, perfect for a quick break or a delicious meal about 2 kilometers into the hike.
Around the midway point of the trail, at 4.88 kilometers, you'll come across the Hacklbergalm restaurant, offering another opportunity to rest and refuel before tackling the remaining distance. Be sure to stay hydrated and pack enough water for the challenging elevation gain of 1020 meters throughout the hike.
As you near the end of the trail, you'll encounter the Saalbachkogel peak, standing tall at 6.69 kilometers into the hike. Take in the breathtaking panoramic views before heading back towards the starting point. Along the way, you'll pass by several benches and water sources, providing some relief during the demanding trek.
