This hiking route takes you to the majestic Shiretoko National Park in Japan, where you will embark on a challenging yet rewarding journey to the peak of Mt. Shiretoko. With a total distance of 9.165 kilometers and an elevation gain of 804 meters, this hike is classified as difficult and is recommended for experienced hikers.
As you start your adventure, you will come across the "Fukurou no Mori" cafe, located just 0.01 kilometers from the trailhead. This is a perfect spot to grab a quick bite or a refreshing drink before heading deeper into the wilderness. As you continue on, you will encounter the "Showa no Nogiki Tatechi" memorial, which pays tribute to the agricultural tools used in the Showa era.
Midway through the hike, you will reach the "尻別岳" peak, standing tall at 4.58 kilometers from the starting point. This is the highlight of the journey, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. Make sure to take a moment to soak in the beauty of nature before heading back.
Along the trail, you will also find the "交通事故遭難供養碑" wayside shrine, located 0.1 kilometers from the start. This sacred site serves as a memorial for those who have lost their lives in traffic accidents.
Please note that there is a parking area conveniently located at the beginning of the trail, allowing for easy access to the starting point.
