This challenging hiking route will take you to the beautiful area of Sommet du Couar in Prealpes-de-Haute-Provence. The trail is an out-and-back route with a total distance of 11.993 kilometers and an elevation gain of 994 meters, making it a difficult hike that will take approximately 5 hours and 15 minutes to complete.
As you start your journey, you'll come across a non-guarded wilderness hut called Cabane d'Archail, located 4.48 kilometers from the trailhead. This is a great spot to take a break and enjoy the serenity of the surroundings.
Along the way, you'll also find Pas d'Archail, a picturesque saddle with stunning views, located 4.48 kilometers from the start of the trail. Make sure to stop by Fontaine du Pas d'Archail, a natural spring located 4.42 kilometers from the trailhead, to refill your water bottles.
Midway through the hike, at 6 kilometers from the start, you'll reach the summit of Sommet du Couar, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding area. This is a great spot to rest and have a snack before heading back.
