This extremely difficult out-and-back hiking route will take you to the stunning Grande Lauzière area. The trail spans a distance of 17.312 kilometers with an elevation gain of 1482 meters, making it quite challenging but rewarding for experienced hikers.
As you embark on this journey, you will encounter various points of interest along the way. At the beginning of the trail, you will come across Lac Merlat, a picturesque water body located approximately 3.97 kilometers from the start. Further along, at around 1.7 kilometers into the hike, you will find Baraque du Colon, a wilderness hut, offering a nice resting spot for hikers.
Midway through the hike, at 5.17 kilometers from the start, you will reach Refuge de La Pra, an alpine hut where you can take a break and enjoy the surrounding mountain views. Additionally, make sure to stop by the drinking water point located at 1.73 kilometers from the start to stay hydrated throughout the journey.
Towards the end of the hike, approximately 8.66 kilometers from the start, you will reach the peak of Grande Lauzière, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. As you make your way back, don't miss the viewpoints along the trail, such as those located at 6.15 kilometers and 3.7 kilometers from the start, providing scenic vistas of the area.
