You are about to embark on an extremely difficult 20.439-kilometer circular hike in the area of Cerro Gaital. This challenging route offers stunning views and unique points of interest along the way.
As you start your journey, you will come across the majestic El Rey waterfall, a perfect spot to take in the natural beauty of the area right at the beginning of the trail. Further along, at 2.79 kilometers from the start, you will find Doña Nella - Criolla y Panameña, a restaurant where you can refuel and enjoy some local cuisine.
Around the 5.19-kilometer mark, you'll encounter the Square Trees, known locally as arboles cuadrados, an intriguing attraction that adds a touch of mystery to the hike. As you continue, at 9.98 kilometers from the start, you'll reach the peak of Cerro Gaital, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
Throughout the hike, you'll find various restaurants and cafes such as Bruschetta, Carlitos, and Refresquería Santa Monica, where you can take a break and grab a bite to eat. Remember to stay hydrated and pack enough water for the journey, as well as checking the weather forecast beforehand.
Additionally, make sure to visit Mirador at 9.33 kilometers, a viewpoint that provides a picturesque lookout point to catch your breath and appreciate the scenery. As you make your way back, consider stopping by Pausa Cafe at 2.35 kilometers from the start for a relaxing cup of coffee.
