This challenging hiking route takes you through a beautiful natural area, offering stunning views and interesting landmarks along the way.
Starting from the trailhead, you will pass by parking areas before reaching the first point of interest, Monte Sellato peak, located 2.6 kilometers from the start. Although not directly on the trail, it offers a great vantage point to admire the surroundings.
Continuing on, you will reach Grotta Intraleo cave entrance, 5.44 kilometers into the hike. This cave is easily accessible from the trail and is a fascinating stop to explore. Nearby, at a distance of 5.17 kilometers from the start, you will find Monte Gallobianco peak, another noteworthy natural feature to behold.
About 1.28 kilometers into the hike, you'll come across Pagghiaru shelter, a good spot to rest and refuel before tackling the remaining distance. Further along the trail, at 5.76 kilometers, you will encounter Grotta di Monte Intraleo cave entrance, followed by Hornito di Monte Intraleo peak at 5.84 kilometers. Both of these points of interest are located on the trail and are worth a visit for their unique geological features.
This out-and-back route covers a total distance of 11.68 kilometers with an elevation gain of 348 meters, making it a difficult trek that requires a moderate level of fitness. Remember to bring plenty of water, snacks, and proper hiking gear. It's also advisable to check the weather forecast before embarking on this hike.
