The hiking route to Nid d'Aigle is an extremely difficult 13.733-kilometer circular trail with an elevation gain of 791 meters. The estimated duration for this challenging hike is approximately 5 hours and 9 minutes.
The trail starts at the parking area near Pierre du Chevrier ou Pierre des Druides, a historic monument just 70 meters from the trail. As you begin your journey, you'll pass by Drapel, a climbing spot located 0.97 kilometers from the start, followed by a viewpoint at 1.01 kilometers where you can take in stunning panoramic views. Nearby, there is also a bench for you to rest and enjoy the scenery.
Midway through the hike at 3.01 kilometers, you'll come across a drinking water station to refill your water bottles. Continuing on, at 4.44 kilometers, there is another drinking water station available for hikers.
The highlight of the hike is reaching Nid d'Aigle, which is the final destination of the trail located 6.47 kilometers from the start. Here, you can take in breathtaking views from another viewpoint. Just be cautious when approaching La Grande Crevasse, located nearby but not directly on the trail.
