Welcome to the hiking route to Cerro Claveles! This extremely difficult 13.9 km circular trail will take approximately 5 hours and 17 minutes to complete, with an elevation gain of 823 meters.
Starting at the parking area, make sure to check the weather forecast before embarking on this challenging hike. The trail will lead you through stunning natural landscapes, offering a variety of water features along the way. You will encounter Laguna de los Pájaros at the beginning of the hike, followed by other picturesque spots such as Laguna Chica de Peñalara, Laguna de los Claveles, and various other smaller water bodies.
As you make your way through the route, you will come across Collado de Quebrantaherraduras, a saddle with breathtaking views waiting for you to take a moment and appreciate the surroundings. Additionally, make sure to visit Mirador de Javier, a viewpoint that offers stunning vistas of the area.
At midway, you will reach Cerro Claveles, a peak that marks the highest point of the hike. From here, you can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. After descending from the peak, you will pass by a spring before continuing on the trail back to the starting point.
Please be prepared with plenty of water, snacks, proper hiking gear, and a fully charged phone. This route is recommended for experienced hikers due to its length and elevation gain, so ensure you are physically prepared for the challenge.
