The Long Trail is a moderate hiking route that spans a distance of 4.661 kilometers with an elevation gain of 349 meters, taking approximately 1 hour and 57 minutes to complete. The trail begins at a parking area conveniently located at the start of the route.

As you embark on your journey, you will come across the Smuggler's Cave Information Booth, which provides insight into the area's history. Further along the trail, at a distance of 0.02 kilometers from the start, you will encounter a Historic Marker highlighting Smuggler's Notch, a notable feature in the region.

Continuing on, you will reach the Sterling Pond Trailhead at 0.06 kilometers, offering a starting point for exploring additional trails in the area. At a distance of 2.17 kilometers from the start, you will reach Spruce Peak, a peak that offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Additionally, at 2.33 kilometers into the route, there is a viewpoint where you can pause and take in the beauty of your surroundings.

As you make your way back, be sure to stop by the various points of interest along the trail to fully immerse yourself in the natural and historical significance of the area. It is recommended to bring an ample water supply and check the weather forecast before setting out on your hike.
