Welcome to the hiking route to Peña del Águila! This moderate 4.384-kilometer out-and-back trail offers stunning views and a moderate challenge for hikers.
The trail starts at a convenient parking area where you can leave your vehicle before heading out. As you begin your journey, you'll come across Cancho Gordo, a peak that stands out at about 1.05 kilometers from the start. Further along the trail, you'll encounter a water source at 0.12 kilometers, perfect for refilling your water bottle.
Midway through the hike, you'll reach Collado del Alfrecho, a saddle point at about 1.32 kilometers from the starting point. As you continue on, you'll pass by several peaks, including Peña del Águila, Cancho de la Bola, and others, each offering unique panoramic views of the surroundings.
Make sure to stop by Fuente del Llambral, a spring located at approximately 1.12 kilometers from the start, to rest and rehydrate before heading back. Along the way, you may also spot Zona Arqueológica La Cabrera, an archaeological site worth exploring.
Although the trail is relatively short, the 440-meter elevation gain adds a moderate level of difficulty to the hike. Make sure to wear appropriate hiking shoes, bring plenty of water, and check the weather forecast before embarking on this adventure.
