This extremely difficult hiking route will take you on a 13.7-kilometer journey with an elevation gain of 1421 meters to reach the summit of Plangerosskopf. The trail starts at the parking area where you can leave your vehicle for free. Make sure to bring plenty of water and snacks for this challenging hike.
As you begin your trek, you will pass by the tranquil Verpeilbach, located just 0.21 kilometers from the start. Further along the trail at 1.46 kilometers, you will come across the Verpeilhütte, an alpine hut where you can take a break and enjoy some refreshments.
About midway through the hike at 4.47 kilometers, you will reach a saddle point with stunning views of the surrounding landscape. As you continue on, you will encounter another water source at 4.6 kilometers to refill your water bottles.
At 5.79 kilometers into the hike, you will reach the Aperes Madatschjoch saddle. From here, you can catch a glimpse of the Östlicher Madatschturm peak, which is located 4.33 kilometers off the main trail.
As you push through the challenging terrain, you will reach the Plangerosskopf viewpoint at 6.85 kilometers. Take a moment to rest and admire the panoramic views before heading back the way you came.
