This hiking route follows the ancient Roman road known as Calzada romana. The trail covers a distance of approximately 2.0 kilometers with an elevation gain of 72 meters, making it an easy hike suitable for all skill levels.
Starting at the trailhead, hikers will come across a convenient parking area right at the beginning of the route. As you make your way along the trail, about 0.9 kilometers in, you'll find the Parador Rural El Saúco, a restaurant where you can take a break and grab a bite to eat.
Continuing on, at around 1.01 kilometers from the start, there is a viewpoint that offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding area. Make sure to stop here and take in the scenery before moving forward.
About 0.76 kilometers into the hike, you'll encounter the remnants of a castle known as Castillo (restos). This historic site provides a glimpse into the region's rich past and is worth exploring.
Along the way, there is a drinking water station located approximately 0.9 kilometers from the start, where you can refill your water bottles and stay hydrated during the hike.
As an out-and-back route, hikers will retrace their steps on the way back to the starting point. Remember to bring plenty of water, wear appropriate footwear, and check the weather forecast before setting out on this picturesque journey.
