Welcome to the Schellenbergsteig hiking route! This 6.836-kilometer out-and-back trail offers a challenging hike with an elevation gain of 725 meters, making it suitable for experienced hikers. The route is estimated to take around 3 hours and 23 minutes to complete.
Starting at the parking area, you will begin your journey through the stunning landscape of the area. As you make your way along the trail, you will come across several points of interest:
- At just 0.02 kilometers from the start, you will find the Kiener Alm restaurant, where you can take a break and refuel before continuing your hike.
- Around 2.24 kilometers into the trail, you'll reach the Gitschhütte restaurant, another great spot to rest and enjoy some local cuisine.
- After a challenging ascent, at 3.42 kilometers from the start, you will reach the Gitsch - Monte Cuzzo peak, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding area.
- Adjacent to the peak, you'll find the Gitsch - Monte Cuzzo viewpoint, perfect for snapping some photos and taking in the scenery.
- As you make your way back, at 1.53 kilometers from the start, you can stop at the Nesselhütte restaurant for a well-deserved break.
Additionally, at the beginning of the trail, you will find the Kiener Scharte - Forcella di Kiens saddle, offering a unique natural feature to explore.
