This hiking route takes you through a challenging terrain with a total distance of approximately 9.98 kilometers and an elevation gain of 1236 meters, making it an extremely difficult hike. The estimated duration for this hike is around 5 hours and 23 minutes.
The route starts at the parking area, where you can leave your vehicle before embarking on your journey. As you begin your hike, you will come across an information point located just 20 meters from the start, providing you with valuable insights about the area and the trail ahead.
Midway through the hike, at around 3.53 kilometers from the starting point, you will encounter the picturesque Mittelberglessee, a tranquil lake surrounded by stunning natural beauty. This is a great spot to rest, take in the scenic views, and perhaps even enjoy a picnic by the water.
Continuing onwards, at approximately 4.99 kilometers into the hike, you will reach the Mainzer See, another beautiful water feature along the trail. Take a moment to appreciate the calmness of the lake and maybe even dip your toes in the refreshing water.
Although not directly on the trail, at 4.28 kilometers from the start, you will find the peak known as Saß. While it may require a slight detour from the main path, reaching the peak offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, making it a worthwhile side excursion for more experienced hikers.
