The hike to Pic de Pene Blanque is set in a stunning area with breathtaking views and challenging terrain. The route is an out-and-back trail that spans a distance of 13.606 kilometers with an elevation gain of 1385 meters, making it extremely difficult in terms of difficulty.
As you start your journey, you will come across the Aire de Stationnement de Lamary, a parking area located at the beginning of the trail. About halfway through the hike, you will reach the Cabane de Pédain, a wilderness hut where you can take a break and enjoy the surroundings. Further along the trail, you will encounter the Cabane de Lamary, another wilderness hut offering a place to rest.
For those seeking shelter, the Abri du Pla d'Escoueste is located at 1.61 kilometers from the start, providing a place to seek refuge if needed. As you continue on, you will reach the Col de Lhurs, a saddle point situated at 5.8 kilometers from the start, offering a unique vantage point along the trail.
At around 6.8 kilometers from the start, you will arrive at the Pic de Pene Blanque, a peak that marks the turnaround point of the hike. The summit provides stunning panoramic views of the surrounding area, making it a perfect spot to rest and refuel before heading back.
