This extremely difficult 12.186-kilometer out-and-back hiking route will take you to the stunning Pic du Col de Lhurs in the Bearn region. The trail offers an elevation gain of 1208 meters and is expected to take around 5 hours and 50 minutes to complete.
Starting at Aire de Stationnement de Lamary, the trail leads you through beautiful wilderness areas, with the first point of interest being the Cabane de Lamary, a non-guarded wilderness hut just 0.48 kilometers from the start. You can take a quick break here before continuing onwards.
As you trek further, you will come across the Abri du Pla d'Escoueste, a shelter located 1.61 kilometers from the start, providing a good resting spot along the way. The trail then takes you to the Esqueste saddle at the 4.3-kilometer mark, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks.
Midway through the hike at approximately 5.8 kilometers from the start, you'll reach the Col de Lhurs, a significant point along the route. Additionally, at the end of the trail lies the Pic du Col de Lhurs, a majestic peak that serves as the ultimate reward for your challenging journey.
