This extremely difficult out-and-back hiking route takes you along the Estrada de Cereixido a Rugando, offering a challenging adventure for experienced hikers.
The 15.152 kilometers long trail has an elevation gain of 823 meters, providing stunning views and a great workout. It is estimated to take around 5 hours and 33 minutes to complete, so be prepared for a long and strenuous journey.
Starting off, you will find a parking area close to the trail, where you can leave your vehicle before embarking on the hike. As you make your way along the path, approximately 7.58 kilometers from the start, you'll come across a water source, perfect for refilling your supplies and staying hydrated.
Along the route, there are several sustenance options available for a well-deserved rest. At just 0.12 kilometers from the beginning, you'll find Bar Cuatro Caminos, offering wheelchair access and a no-smoking policy. Additionally, there are various restaurants and bars such as A Pepa, Bar Norte, Bar Taxi, Té Rojo, A Tasca, Orballo, and O Retorno, providing a variety of dining choices to replenish your energy.
For those interested in historic landmarks, a wayside cross can be spotted 0.37 kilometers into the hike, adding a cultural element to your outdoor experience.
As you reach the halfway point and start making your way back, make sure to stop by Bravo Lux, a cafe with outdoor smoking facilities, to take a break before continuing your journey.
