This hiking route will take you to Thurston Peak, an extremely difficult 17.529-kilometer out-and-back trail with an elevation gain of 1332 meters. Thurston Peak is located in a beautiful area with picturesque views.
As you start your hike, you will come across a parking area right at the beginning of the trail. Make sure to park your vehicle here before embarking on your journey. About midway through the trail, you will find the Fernwood Recreation Site, a lovely picnic site where you can take a break and enjoy the surroundings.
As you continue towards Thurston Peak, you will come across a drinking water station located conveniently on the trail, allowing you to refill your water bottles and stay hydrated throughout your hike. At a distance of 8.76 kilometers from the start, you will reach Thurston Peak, a prominent peak in the area with stunning panoramic views.
For history buffs, there is a memorial near Thurston Peak, providing a glimpse into the area's historical significance. The hike back will be challenging but rewarding, with the opportunity to take in the beautiful landscapes once again.
