This extremely difficult 13.234-kilometer out-and-back hiking route takes you to the Taitapu Airstrip on Otahuna Road. The trail starts at a parking area, located at the beginning of the route. As you progress along the trail, you will encounter several water sources at various points.
At 3.28 kilometers into the hike, you will reach a water source that is not directly on the trail, located midway through the route. Further along, at 4.88 kilometers, there is another water source directly on the trail, providing a refreshing stop for hikers.
As you continue, at the 6.62-kilometer mark, there are two water sources, one off the trail and one on the trail, offering a chance to replenish your water supply. Finally, at 5.75 kilometers, there is one last water source conveniently located on the trail, closer to the end of the hike.
Given the length of the hike and the elevation gain of 264 meters, this trail is recommended for experienced hikers who are prepared for a challenging adventure. Make sure to bring an adequate supply of water, as well as snacks and proper hiking gear. Additionally, checking the weather forecast before heading out is always a good idea to ensure a safe and enjoyable hike.
