Welcome to the hiking route from Camino de Ándara al Collado San Carlos in Cillorigo de Liébana! This challenging 8.874-kilometer circular trail offers stunning views and a variety of points of interest along the way.
Starting at Jitu de Escarandi, you will find a parking area to leave your vehicle before beginning your hike. As you make your way along the trail, you will reach Refugio Casetón de Ándara, an alpine hut located 3.14 kilometers from the start. This is a great spot to take a break and enjoy the surrounding nature.
Continuing on, you will encounter Macondiu, a peak 4.27 kilometers from the start, offering panoramic views of the area. Along the trail, you will also pass by Torca de la Mazarrasa, a cave entrance located 3.09 kilometers from the start, and Collado de la Aldea, a saddle 3.58 kilometers from the start.
As you reach the midway point of the hike, you can stop at Collada de Trasmacondíu, another saddle 3.88 kilometers from the start, and nearby peaks such as Collado de Andara and other saddles before making your way back to the starting point.
With an elevation gain of 609 meters, this hike is classified as difficult due to its length and steep terrain. It is important to come prepared with plenty of water, proper hiking gear, and snacks for energy.
