This extremely difficult hiking route will take you along the Sentier Mengin in Livet-et-Gavet, covering a distance of 14.329 kilometers with an elevation gain of 1132 meters. The total duration for this challenging hike is approximately 6 hours and 8 minutes.
Starting at the parking area near Les Terres Froides, make sure to bring plenty of water and snacks as this trail is no easy feat. The trail begins with a moderate incline, offering stunning views of the surrounding area. About 0.79 kilometers into the hike, you'll come across an information point named L'Airette, providing some insights into the local area.
As you continue on, at around 3.88 kilometers, you'll reach the Refuge du Taillefer alpine hut, a great spot to take a break and enjoy the picturesque surroundings. Further along the trail, at 7.16 kilometers, you'll encounter the Grand Galbert peak, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the region.
Throughout the hike, you'll also pass by several water sources for refilling your bottles, with the closest one being approximately 5.34 kilometers from the start. Keep in mind that some water sources may require a detour from the main trail.
