This extremely difficult 15.494-kilometer circular hiking route in the Schlagstein area offers a challenging yet rewarding adventure for experienced hikers. With an elevation gain of 1519 meters, this route will take approximately 7 hours and 23 minutes to complete. Before embarking on this journey, be sure to pack plenty of water, snacks, and check the weather forecast.
The hike begins at a parking area at the trailhead, where you can start your ascent towards the first point of interest, a shelter located 1.27 kilometers from the start. As you continue your journey, you will come across the Bächsattel saddle at the 6.1-kilometer mark, followed by information signs at the Wegweiser Zunderkopf Sattel at 5.2 kilometers and Zuderkopfsattel at 4.92 kilometers.
Midway through the hike, you will reach the Schlagsteinsattel saddle at 7.24 kilometers, offering a brief respite before continuing towards the peak of Schlagstein at 7.6 kilometers. Be prepared for a challenging climb to the top, where you will be rewarded with stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
