The hiking route on the Chemin des Terres Noires offers a moderate challenge with a distance of approximately 4.15 kilometers and an elevation gain of 277 meters. The trail begins at a parking area and takes you through picturesque scenery in the region.
As you start your hike, you will come across the Grotte Notre-Dame du Lac, located around 0.68 kilometers from the beginning of the trail. This cave entrance provides an interesting stop for exploration. Along the way, you will also find benches for resting and enjoying the views.
At around 1.42 kilometers into the hike, you will reach Le Taillefer, also known as Les Terres Noires, which offers a scenic viewpoint. Further along the trail, at approximately 1.83 kilometers, you will encounter another viewpoint at Mont Gerbet, providing panoramic vistas of the surrounding area.
As you continue, you will find additional viewpoints, benches, and informational points scattered along the trail. These include viewpoints such as Crêt du Bourg and Le Taillefer, providing you with opportunities to take in the beauty of the landscape.
It is recommended to bring an ample water supply, wear appropriate footwear, and check the weather forecast before embarking on this hike. The Chemin des Terres Noires trail is an out-and-back route, so you will retrace your steps back to the starting point after enjoying the various points of interest along the way.
