This hiking route takes you through the stunning Gerloskogerl area, offering breathtaking views and challenging terrain. With a total distance of 12.5 kilometers and an elevation gain of 711 meters, this hike is classified as extremely difficult and is recommended for experienced hikers.
Starting at the parking area, you will begin your journey towards Gerloskogerl. Along the way, you will pass by several points of interest. Approximately 3.27 kilometers from the start, you will come across the Schlittenstadl restaurant where you can take a break and refuel. As you continue onwards, at the 5.36-kilometer mark, you will reach the Berghotel Gerlosstein, offering a cozy spot to rest and enjoy a meal.
Around the 5.75 to 6.25-kilometer mark, you will find various information points providing insights into the area's history and natural wonders. One such point is the Zillertaler Almtribüne viewpoint, offering spectacular panoramic views of the surroundings.
The highlight of the hike is reaching the Gerloskogerl peak, located approximately 6.25 kilometers from the start. The summit provides unparalleled views of the surrounding landscapes, making the challenging trek well worth the effort.
