Hiking : Alto de la Viga

This difficult hiking route will take you to Alto de la Viga in a beautiful natural area. The trail is an out-and-back type, with a total distance of 9.958 kilometers and an elevation gain of 311 meters.

Starting at the trailhead, you will pass by Parque Materredonda restaurant at just 0.04 kilometers from the start, where you can grab a bite or a drink before continuing your journey. As you hike further, you will come across Parque Ecológico Mataredonda at 0.05 kilometers from the start, a fee-based attraction open from 08:00-16:00 every day.

Midway through the hike at 2.96 kilometers from the start, you will reach Laguna del Verjón, a beautiful water feature where you can take a break and enjoy the scenery. There is another water point at the same distance where you can refill your bottles.

At the furthest point of the trail, at 4.98 kilometers from the start, you will reach Alto de la Viga, a peak with stunning views of the surrounding area. Please note that there is another peak, which is not directly on the trail, located at 4.24 kilometers from the start.

This hike will take approximately 3 hours and 5 minutes to complete. Make sure to bring enough water, snacks, and check the weather forecast before heading out. Enjoy the challenging trek and the breathtaking views along the way!
