Starting at the Trésors d'Oc cafe, you'll begin your journey with a gradual ascent through the picturesque landscape of the Montagne Noire region. As you hike, you'll come across a water source at around 0.58 kilometers from the start, where you can take a break and replenish your supplies.
Around the 2.06-kilometer mark, you'll encounter the Menhir dit Pierre levée de Picarel, an archaeological site featuring a standing stone with historical significance. This unique attraction adds a touch of mystery to your hike and provides a great photo opportunity.
Continuing on, you'll pass by several picnic sites and benches, perfect for taking a rest and enjoying the surrounding nature. At 4.18 kilometers from the start, you'll find another water point to refill your water bottles.
As you approach the midway point of the hike, you'll reach the Borne Fontaine du Foirail fountain, where you can cool off and take a moment to appreciate the peaceful ambiance of the area. From there, the trail meanders through forested areas and open meadows, offering a mix of terrain to keep you engaged.
Before completing the loop, you'll pass by the Espace de liberté picnic site, ideal for a final break before heading back to the starting point. Throughout the hike, you may also encounter various cafes, restaurants, and information points that provide additional amenities and insights into the region.
With a total elevation gain of 139 meters, this hike is considered difficult due to its length and terrain. It's recommended to bring plenty of water, wear sturdy hiking shoes, and check the weather forecast before setting out.
