This hiking route takes you along the scenic MacLehose Trail in the Kwai Tsing District. With a total distance of 2.937 kilometers and an elevation gain of 145 meters, this trail offers a relatively easy hike suitable for all skill levels.
Starting at the Kwai Shue House Car Park, you'll embark on your journey through lush greenery and tranquil surroundings. Along the way, you'll come across various points of interest such as the Sheung Yat Chuen Fresh Water Tank, Shing Mun Barbecue Area Site 3, and the historic ruins at various points along the trail.
As you continue your hike, you'll pass by several shelters and water sources to rest and recharge. Make sure to bring an ample supply of water and some snacks to keep you energized throughout the journey.
Midway through the trail, you'll encounter informative markers and maps to guide you along the path. Take a moment to appreciate the surroundings and learn more about the area's history and natural features.
Towards the end of the trail, you'll reach the Shing Mun Redoubt and other historic sites before turning back. As you make your way back, you can enjoy the stunning views of the area and perhaps stop by one of the nearby restaurants like Yiu Kee Restaurant or Shue Wing Wah to refuel after your hike.
