This extremely difficult 15.631-kilometer circular hiking route will take you to the breathtaking Pic de Bastan in the scenic area surrounding the destination. The trail starts at a fee-free parking area, providing easy access to hikers.
As you embark on your journey, you'll encounter various points of interest along the way. About 4.48 kilometers from the start, you'll come across a refreshing water source, perfect for replenishing your supplies. Moving forward, at around 1.44 kilometers into the hike, you'll find a convenient bench for a quick rest stop.
Halfway through the route, at 5.24 kilometers from the start, the Alpine Hut known as Refuge de Bastan offers a cozy accommodation option for overnight stays. A restaurant named Les Merlans is also located nearby, making it a great spot to grab a meal before continuing your adventure.
As you near the end of the hike, you'll reach the stunning Col de Portet, situated right on the trail at the 0.0-kilometer mark. Additionally, the picturesque Col de Bastanet and the peak of Pic de Bastan will offer panoramic views of the surrounding natural beauty.
Although this trail presents a significant elevation gain of 998.0 meters, the awe-inspiring vistas and unique landmarks along the way make it a rewarding experience for avid hikers.
