Located in the Tuhou Arédoun du Bas area, this extremely difficult 15.399-kilometer circular hiking route offers a challenging adventure for experienced hikers. With an elevation gain of 884 meters, the trail will take an estimated time of 5 hours and 46 minutes to complete.
Starting at the trailhead, hikers will first encounter the Col de Portet, situated right at the beginning of the route. As you continue onwards, approximately 4.48 kilometers into the hike, you'll come across a water feature, followed by the Refuge de Bastan at 5.24 kilometers. This alpine hut provides a great rest spot and a chance to refuel before tackling the rest of the journey.
Further along the trail, at 7.5 kilometers, there is another water source, not directly on the trail. However, at 7.6 kilometers, you will pass by two more water features. The Lac de la Hourquette, a picturesque lake, lies at 7.58 kilometers into the hike, offering a serene setting to take in the surroundings.
Additionally, at various points along the trail, you will find amenities such as the Les Merlans restaurant at 1.46 kilometers, a bench at 1.44 kilometers, and a shelter at 1.49 kilometers, providing opportunities for rest and relaxation.
As you near the end of the hike, at 5.71 kilometers, there is another water source off the trail, and at 7.08 kilometers, you'll reach the Col de Bastanet saddle. Finally, at 0.05 kilometers from the start, an information point can be found to learn more about the area.
