Welcome to the hiking route to Great How Crags! This moderate 6.593-kilometer out-and-back trail offers stunning views and a variety of points of interest along the way.
Starting at the parking area, make your way along the trail towards Three Shire Stone, located right at the beginning of the route. This iconic landmark marks the meeting point of the historic counties of Cumberland, Lancashire, and Westmorland.
As you continue on, you'll come across Wrynose Pass, a scenic saddle known for its picturesque views of the surrounding mountains. Be sure to take a moment to appreciate the beauty of this natural wonder before heading towards the first peak, Swirl How, located midway through the hike.
Great Carrs, another peak, awaits you further along the trail, offering even more breathtaking panoramas. As you approach the 2.18-kilometer mark, you'll encounter the Handley Page Halifax LL505 Crash Site Memorial, a poignant reminder of the area's history.
At the end of the trail lies the main attraction, Great How Crags. Marvel at the impressive rock formations and enjoy a well-deserved rest before heading back along the same path.
