Welcome to the hiking route to Cueva Cotera in Peñamellera Alta! This 16.67-kilometer out-and-back trail is not for the faint of heart, as it is categorized as extremely difficult due to the 1150 meters of elevation gain.
Starting off at the parking area, you will begin your journey by passing Puente La Vidre, an attraction that highlights the region's pre-Romanesque history. Just a short distance away, you'll find the Ruta del Trespandiu PR-AS 159 information point, providing valuable insights into the local area.
As you make your way along the trail, you'll come across Cueva de Traúno, an archaeological site nestled 0.19 kilometers from the start. Halfway through the hike, at 8.34 kilometers, you'll find a tranquil water feature perfect for a rest stop. Additionally, at this point, you can also enjoy a picnic at the nearby picnic site before continuing your journey.
