This challenging 6.92 km circular hiking route will lead you through the breathtaking mountainous area surrounding Santa Maria dei Monti. With an elevation gain of 571 meters, this hike is classified as difficult and is estimated to take about 3 hours to complete.

Starting from the designated parking area, you will begin your journey, passing by a historic ruin about 1.87 km from the start. As you continue along the trail, you will come across another ruin at approximately 1.58 km into the hike. Here, you will also find a viewpoint called Belvedere offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

Further along the trail, at approximately 3.17 km from the start, you will reach Santa Maria dei Monti alpine hut. This will be a great spot to take a break, refuel, and enjoy the scenic beauty of the area. There is another alpine hut of the same name located nearby, just a bit further down the trail.

As you make your way back towards the starting point, you will encounter more points of interest such as the Castrum ruin at around 1.87 km from the start, and the Castello ruins about 1.53 km into the hike. Additionally, you'll find a drinking water station at the beginning for your convenience.

Throughout the hike, be sure to bring an ample water supply, wear sturdy hiking boots, and check the weather forecast beforehand.
