Located in the beautiful region of Pays Basque, this hiking route is an extremely difficult 11.5-kilometer out-and-back trail that will challenge even experienced hikers. With a total elevation gain of 1254 meters, this trail will lead you to the magnificent peak of Sardekagaina.

As you start your journey, you will come across a wilderness hut called Cayolar de Pista Pékoa, situated 1.75 kilometers from the beginning of the trail. This hut provides a unique accommodation option for those looking to stay overnight in the wilderness. Continuing on, at the 0 kilometer mark, you will find a convenient parking area to leave your vehicle before embarking on the hike.

As you venture further along the trail, at the 2.36-kilometer mark, you will encounter an archaeological site that offers a glimpse into the historic significance of the area. Not too far away, at 1.9 kilometers from the start, you will be greeted by the breathtaking Cascade de Pista, a stunning waterfall that will leave you in awe.

To replenish your water supply, a drinking water station can be found at the 2.68-kilometer mark, providing a much-needed break for hydration. For those interested in learning more about the region, an information center is located at the 0.53-kilometer mark, offering insights into the local culture and environment.

As you reach the midway point of the trail, the peak of Pic de Pista stands tall at 4.53 kilometers from the start, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Finally, at the 5.78-kilometer mark, you will reach the ultimate destination of Sardekagaina, a majestic peak that will reward you with sweeping vistas of the Pays Basque region.
