Welcome to the Otsogorri hiking route! This challenging 10.031-kilometer out-and-back trail will take you through the stunning landscapes of the Basque Country, offering breathtaking views and a variety of points of interest along the way.
Starting at the parking area, you'll begin your ascent towards the Otsogorri peak, passing by the Cayolar de Pista Pékoa wilderness hut at 1.75 kilometers from the start. This is a great spot to take a break and enjoy the surrounding nature before continuing on.
As you hike further, you'll come across the Cascade de Pista waterfall at 1.9 kilometers from the start, where you can marvel at the rushing water and take some amazing photos. Further along the trail, you'll reach the archaeological site at 2.36 kilometers and the drinking water station at 2.68 kilometers, providing essential resources for your journey.
Midway through the hike, you'll encounter the Üthürurdineta portilloa saddle at 4.33 kilometers and the Otsogorrigaina peak at 4.83 kilometers, offering panoramic views of the surrounding area. Make sure to stop and take in the scenery before heading back.
For history enthusiasts, keep an eye out for the boundary stones at 4.34 and 4.83 kilometers, marking significant landmarks in the region. Lastly, don't forget to check out the information point at 0.53 kilometers from the start for any additional details about the area.
With an elevation gain of 1185 meters, this hike is considered difficult and is recommended for experienced hikers. Make sure to bring plenty of water, wear sturdy hiking shoes, and check the weather forecast before heading out.
