This hiking route takes you through the stunning natural beauty of the Otsogorritxipia area in the Pays Basque region. The 12.4 kilometers long trail offers a challenging trek with an elevation gain of 1256 meters, making it extremely difficult but rewarding for experienced hikers.
As you start your journey, you will come across the Cayolar de Pista Pékoa wilderness hut, situated 1.75 kilometers from the trailhead, providing a great resting spot early on. Further along the trail, at 0.53 kilometers from the start, you will find an information point offering insights into the area's history and surroundings.
Midway through the hike, at 2.36 kilometers from the start, you will encounter an archaeological site known as Cascade de Pista / Pixtako ur-jauzia, adding a cultural element to your adventure. Additionally, at 2.68 kilometers from the start, a drinking water point will come in handy for refueling before continuing your ascent.
For nature enthusiasts, the route features peaks such as Otsogorrigaina and Üthürurdineta portilloa, offering panoramic views of the landscape. Not far from the trail, you can explore archaeological sites like Tumulus Otxogorritxipia and boundary stones marking the historic Mugarrien 245. zenbakia, Mugarrien 246. zenbakia, and Mugarrien 247. zenbakia.
The trail is an out-and-back type, leading you to the destination point of Otsogorritxipia, where you can enjoy the beauty of the area before heading back.
