Starting at the Huntington Road entrance, you will come across various points of interest along the route. About 0.4 kilometers into the hike, you will find the Water Tower Parking Lot and a bench for a quick rest stop. Continuing on, at around 0.37 kilometers, there is a parking area available.

As you progress further along the trail, at approximately 0.6 kilometers, you will reach the Polk Penguin Conservation Center. This is an ideal spot to take in some wildlife and enjoy the surroundings. Nearby, at 0.68 kilometers, there is a fast-food option at Boardwalk Station if you need a bite to eat.

Midway through the hike, at 0.74 kilometers, there are multiple picnic sites where you can relax and have a snack. Just a bit further along, at 0.8 kilometers, you will find the Jane and Frank Warchol Beaver Habitat and the Cotton Family Wetlands Boardwalk, which offers a picturesque view of the wetlands.

Towards the end of the trail, at 0.81 kilometers, you will pass by the Detroit Zoo, where you can explore more wildlife. Finally, at the turnaround point of the trail, there is another fast-food option at the Main Picnic Grove.
