This hiking route is set in the picturesque Mölstalstraße area and offers a challenging yet rewarding outdoor experience. With a total distance of approximately 12.4 kilometers and an elevation gain of 813 meters, this is considered an extremely difficult trail suitable for experienced hikers.
As you begin your journey, you will come across a convenient parking area right at the trailhead. Make sure to bring plenty of water and snacks for this long and strenuous hike. About 6 kilometers into the hike, you will encounter a beautiful water feature, providing a serene resting spot to take in the natural surroundings.
Around the 1.4-kilometer mark, you will find the cozy Peeralm restaurant and alpine hut, a perfect place to refuel and recharge before continuing your adventure. As you progress further along the trail, you will encounter several other water sources, offering a refreshing break along the way.
Midway through the hike, at approximately 5.7 kilometers, you will reach Mölsjoch, a notable saddle in the region. Take a moment to appreciate the stunning views before continuing your trek. Along the trail, you will also come across historic sites such as wayside crosses and interesting rock formations, adding a cultural element to your outdoor excursion.
Throughout the hike, informational markers and benches are strategically placed to provide you with relevant insights and comfortable resting spots. At the 2.85-kilometer mark, you will find the Zehenteralm alpine hut, offering a cozy retreat for weary travelers.
As you near the end of the hike, be prepared for a challenging yet fulfilling experience. The trail is an out-and-back type, so you will retrace your steps on the way back to Mölstalstraße.
