Welcome to the hiking route to Sonnenköpfl! This challenging out-and-back trail spans a distance of 12.3 kilometers with an elevation gain of 1032 meters, making it extremely difficult but rewarding for experienced hikers.
The trail starts in a picturesque area with convenient parking space available at the beginning of the route. As you venture along the trail, you will come across a couple of water sources, one at around the 6.15 kilometer mark and another at 3.88 kilometers, providing a refreshing break along the way.
Around the midway point at 4.91 kilometers, you'll find the stunning peak of Schafseitenspitze, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. While not directly on the trail, it's worth the short detour to explore this natural wonder.
Additionally, there are points of interest such as the Pliderling peak at 5.35 kilometers, and historic landmarks like wayside crosses and benches scattered throughout the hike, adding a cultural touch to your outdoor adventure.
For sustenance, the Olpererblick restaurant awaits at 0.45 kilometers from the start, providing a perfect spot to refuel before continuing your journey.
