This extremely difficult 18.018-kilometer circular hiking route will lead you through the stunning natural beauty of the area surrounding Bocca Piccaia. With an elevation gain of 1536.0 meters, this challenging trek is not for the faint of heart. Make sure to wear sturdy hiking boots and pack plenty of water and snacks.
The hike begins at a convenient parking area at the trailhead. As you set off, you'll soon come across the Fontaine de Spasimata spring, perfect for refilling your water supply early on. About 3.52 kilometers into the hike, you'll find yourself at the Bivouac de Carozzu campsite, a great spot to take a break and enjoy the scenery.
Continuing on, at around 3.86 kilometers, you'll reach the Refuge de Carozzu alpine hut, where you can rest and recharge before tackling the rest of the trail. The Bocca di Pisciaghja saddle at 8.03 kilometers offers breathtaking panoramic views and a perfect photo opportunity.
At the midway point of 8.14 kilometers, the Bocca Piccaia viewpoint awaits, providing a majestic vista of the surrounding landscape. Further along the trail at 5.64 kilometers, you'll encounter the Bocca di L'Innominata saddle, adding to the scenic diversity of the hike.
As you make your way back towards the starting point, be sure to stop by the shelter at 3.68 kilometers for a quick break. Lastly, at 3.74 kilometers, an information point provides interesting facts about the area to enhance your hiking experience.
