This extremely difficult out-and-back hiking route will take you to the breathtaking Abri sommaire Baroude in the Passades de Barroude area. The 15.609-kilometer trail features an elevation gain of 1270 meters and is estimated to take around 6 hours and 47 minutes to complete.
As you start your journey, you'll find parking available nearby, making it easy to access the trailhead. Around 7.75 kilometers into the hike, you'll come across several water sources, providing a refreshing break along the way. Keep an eye out for the Port de Barroude saddle at the 5.67-kilometer mark, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
Midway through the hike, you'll encounter the Pic de l'Aiguillette peak, standing tall at 2.25 kilometers from the start. As you continue, the trail leads you to the Pic de Port Vieux peak at the 4.22-kilometer mark and the Soum de Barroude peak at 4.73 kilometers, offering panoramic vistas of the region.
Additionally, there are shelters such as the Baroude shelter and the Abri sommaire Baroude available along the trail for hikers to rest and take in the views. These facilities are conveniently located at 2.77 kilometers and 7.47 kilometers from the starting point, respectively.
