This hiking route takes you through the beautiful Nicola Valley, offering stunning views and a challenging hike. Starting at the Rotary Park Parking, you will begin your journey towards the Merritt Viewpoint. Along the way, you will come across various points of interest.
Approximately halfway through the hike, you will encounter the Norgaard flagpole, a great spot to take a break and enjoy the panoramic views. Further along the trail, you will find the Nicola Valley information point and The Wild Wind Onion artwork.
Be sure to bring plenty of water and snacks as there are no water sources directly on the trail, but you can find water at the shelter located 0.53 kilometers from the start. Additionally, there are picnic sites and parking areas along the route, making it convenient for hikers.
The total distance of the hike is 11.536 kilometers with an elevation gain of 275 meters, making it a difficult trek that requires some level of fitness. It is recommended to check the weather forecast before heading out and to wear appropriate hiking gear.
