The hiking route to Barrera del Ocal is set in a picturesque area with lush landscapes and challenging terrain. This out-and-back trail spans a distance of 21.264 kilometers and boasts an elevation gain of 883 meters, making it an extremely difficult hike that is recommended for experienced hikers.
As you start your journey, you will come across a parking area conveniently located at the beginning of the trail. About 8.65 kilometers into the hike, you will find a water source where you can replenish your supplies. Further along the trail, at approximately 6.98 kilometers, you will encounter the majestic peak of Peña Caldera, offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding area.
Midway through the hike, around the 3.33-kilometer mark, there is a drinking water station at Fuente de Jarandilla, providing a refreshing opportunity to hydrate. Additionally, there is a restaurant located just 0.03 kilometers from the trail where you can take a break and refuel before continuing your trek.
Towards the end of the trail, at around 10.63 kilometers, you will reach another peak that offers breathtaking views of the landscape. Finally, at 1.45 kilometers from the start of the trail, you will find the Piscina Natural El Nogalón, a natural pool where you can cool off and relax after a challenging hike.
