This extremely difficult out-and-back hiking route takes you on a 17.557 km journey with an elevation gain of 744 meters in the beautiful area of Iturrondo.
Starting at Belateko mendatea / Puerto de Belate, you will pass by various points of interest along the way. At the beginning of the trail, you will come across Dolmen Matrakola, an ancient archaeological site just 0.82 km from the start. As you continue your hike, you will encounter Cromlechs Ermitako Lepoa 1-2, Cromlech Gatzaga Iparralde, and Menhir Ermitako Lepoa, each with its own historical significance.
Midway through the hike, you'll reach peaks such as Xuriain, Iturrondo, Okolin, Zetume, and Azkenatz, offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Make sure to stop by the wilderness hut at 2.94 km from the start for a quick rest and refuel.
As you venture further into the route, you'll also pass by Túmulo Okolingo Lepoa, Sagardegiko lepoa, and Aldegi, each adding a unique element to your hiking experience.
Remember to bring plenty of water, snacks, and proper hiking gear as the trail is quite challenging due to its length and elevation gain. Additionally, check the weather forecast before heading out to ensure a safe and enjoyable hike.
