This extremely difficult 11.076-kilometer out-and-back hiking route will take you to the stunning Petite Séolane peak in the Ubaye Valley. The trail starts at a convenient parking area and immediately immerses you in the beauty of the area. As you make your way along the path, you will come across the picturesque Abbaye du Laverq, a historic monastery located just 0.06 kilometers from the start of the trail.
Continuing on, you will reach the charming Gîte du Laverq, an alpine hut nestled 0.19 kilometers from the trail. This is a great spot to take a break and enjoy the serene surroundings. Further along the route, at 1.67 kilometers from the start, you will find the Cabane de Clot Giraud, a shelter where you can rest and refuel before continuing your adventure.
As you ascend, you will pass by informative points such as L'Abbaye, Bachas, and Les Sartres, offering you insights into the area's history and natural wonders. At the midway point, you will reach the Col de Séolane, a beautiful saddle that marks the 3.74-kilometer point of the hike. From here, you can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
Finally, after a challenging trek, you will reach the highlight of the journey - the breathtaking Petite Séolane peak, located 5.54 kilometers from the start of the trail. Take your time to soak in the awe-inspiring vistas before retracing your steps back to the starting point.
