This hike will take you through the beautiful area of Žiarske Sedlo in the Western Tatras. The route is an out-and-back trail that leads to the peak of Smrek.

Starting at the parking area, you will pass by Žiarska Chata, an alpine hut where you can rest and grab a bite to eat before continuing on your journey. As you trek along the trail, you will come across Pliesko pod Žiarskym sedlom, a tranquil water feature located 2.67 kilometers from the start. Further along the path at 3.14 kilometers, you will find another water source, perfect for refilling your water bottle.

At the halfway point of 4.33 kilometers, you will reach the peak of Smrek, offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. On the way back, be sure to visit the Pamätník obetiam Západných Tatier, a memorial honoring the victims of the Western Tatras.

Throughout the hike, you will encounter various points of interest such as Žiarske sedlo, a saddle point at 2.96 kilometers, and Pod Homôlkou, an information point at 1.93 kilometers.

With a total distance of 8.658 kilometers and an elevation gain of 778 meters, this hike is rated as difficult. Be sure to bring plenty of water, snacks, and check the weather forecast before setting out on this challenging but rewarding adventure.
